Bradshaw è nata nel 1949 a New York dove attualmente vive e lavora.
Fin dal 1969, ha interpretato il concetto di Indeterminatezza trovando
per esso varie applicazioni (scultura, pittura, performance e video) e
declinando un’arte concettuale che privilegiasse il dato sensoriale.
Si è dedicata a realizzare forme di interazione con l’elemento
naturale che coniugassero arte e scienza. Nelle sue installazioni ha sfruttato
il potere di erosione dell’acqua e ha fatto uso di materiali particolarmente
sensibili ai mutamenti atmosferici o di sostanze instabili come acetone,
mercurio e zolfo.
I lavori di Bradshaw, esposti negli Stati Uniti, in Europa e in Asia, sono presenti nelle collezioni permanenti di importanti musei e gallerie.
Dove Bradshaw was born in 1949 in New York City, she continues to live and work. Beginning in 1969, she pioneered the use of Indeterminacy in sculpture, painting, performance and film. By persistently relinquishing control, she took Conceptual Art in a sensuous direction. Her early fusion of scientific exploration with art practice has anticipated activities of later generations by several decades. Some of her gestures toward Indeterminacy have embraced the chance positioning of work, the use of materials particularly susceptible to weather and indoor atmosphere, the unpredictability of birds, the gradual erosion of water, or the use of inherently unstable substances such as acetone, mercury and sulfur.
Bradshaw’s work has been exhibited in US, Europe and Asia. Her work is included in many private collections and in quite a few permanent collections at public museums and galleries.
